The Jeffrey 106 is a 106mm all-mountain twin for skiers who want one pair for the entire mountain and don't want to baby them. It replaces the Jeffrey 108, narrowed 2mm underfoot for quicker edge-to-edge without giving up float. Seven lengths, 161 through 191. Handbuilt in Portland, Oregon.

One ski, the whole mountain
Underfoot it's a directional twin: camber through the middle, Signature rocker at both ends, mounted 4cm behind center at 181. The sidecut is split — a tighter radius at the tip than the tail — so it hooks into a turn and releases clean instead of hanging on at the exit.
Off piste, the 106 waist and the taper keep it honest in soft snow without turning it into a ski that only works on a powder day. On hardpack the full-length edge and the 2800 laminate hold a line at speed rather than washing out at the tail.
Who it's for: the skier who buys one pair every four or five seasons, skis them everywhere in every condition, and stops only when something breaks.

Why quality costs, part one: what's in it
Materials are the part you can put in a list — and the part anybody can buy. More material in the places skis break, same construction as every resort ski we press. This spec is the current one; when we find better, the build changes.
But the spec isn't the answer to why an ON3P costs what it does. It's the evidence. The answer is the next section.
2800 Hybrid Composite
Our own custom-weave triaxial fiberglass and carbon, 4" stringers running full length. Balanced torsional and longitudinal stiffness without added weight — and nobody else has it, because we had it made.

The largest edge stock available to buy, wrapped 3/4 so the tips still flex.
1.8mm Durasurf 4001 Base
A 1.8mm base gives you more grinds, more seasons, and more rock you can hit before it matters. #18 — superlative removed. Published form is 1.8mm plus a named baseline figure with its supplier-catalog source; that data task is open, and the decision-log/marketing-facts conflict is Scott's call.

Why quality costs, part two: the bar is what we throw away
We run LEAN, and the line stops when something's wrong. We fix it there instead of building through it and sorting it out at the end. That's an expensive way to run a floor, and it's most of the honest answer to why this ski costs what it does — not the edge stock.
Here's what a year of that looks like.
Almost always an equipment failure — a press blanket letting go — rather than a build that went wrong.
A sidewall issue. A nick in an edge. Nothing on this list leaves as a new ski.
A scratch, a dent in a topsheet. Nothing that changes how it skis — which is exactly why they still don't go out as new. They become proform and warranty pairs.

Why quality costs, part three: what you get back
A base can only be ground so many times before it's gone. An edge can only be tuned so many times before there's nothing left to tune. Those are countable, and they're most of what the money actually buys.
Base life
1.8mm of Durasurf 4001. A shop grind takes a set amount off every time — more material underneath is more grinds, and more grinds is more seasons before the base is done. the grind count publishes with the supplier-gauge pull — same data task as the base baseline
Edge life
2.5 × 2.5mm at HRC 48, wrapped 3/4. Every tune takes a little edge. More edge is more tunes before the ski is out of them. tune count, same data task
When something breaks

Which length should I get?
ON3P skis run long — if you're between sizes and ski mostly resort, take the shorter one. for a starting recommendation, and the spec table above has the measured numbers for every length.
Where should I mount it?
On the line. The recommended mount at 181 is 4cm behind true center — 85.6cm from the tail. Every length has its own measured number in the table; use the figure for your length rather than doing the math.
What brake width do I need?
At 106mm underfoot, a 106–115mm brake. Add bindings to the order and take $50 off the pair — it ships unmounted, and any shop can mount it.
What does the warranty cover?
A warranty covers a ski being built wrong. It doesn't cover a ski being broken. Those are different events — we handle both, just not the same way. Snapped Ski Replacement copy joins when the Jotform data work lands
