…in with the new.
We’ve got a new look here at ON3P. This re-design has been a long time coming, but I’m happy to say that it matches the vibe and vision we have for this company. Look for more sections and features as the year progresses; but for now we hope you enjoy the new site. Our thanks goes out to Trevor Woods and Ben Kuhns of Lunar Solar Creative for making this re-brand possible.
With our third production season almost complete, and time in our first factory almost at an end, I find myself thinking how much we’ve done since I started here in October, 2009. At this time our first year we had yet to press a ski for the coming season, having only gotten the space in late August. Our presses were built, mostly, but our small team of riders and hundreds of preorders were all awaiting the skis we had promised to make. Even after the first ski, getting everything right took us a while. The pile of the first 186 Billy Goat’s now sits in a back room behind our office; a testament to the high standard of quality Scott and ON3P has for any ski leaving our factory.
Looking around the mostly deserted shop floor, it is amazing how this company has changed and progressed. Thousands of skis have passed through my hands in two short years. Each ski has taken hundreds of passes through our Reichmann to grind the base flat, thousands of passes on the router for each sidewall, tens of thousands of strokes of a file to detune the edges and uncountable droplets of wax to make it into your hands. It is incredible to think that every single on of our skis out there was built by Scott’s epoxy drenched hands.
Beyond Scott and myself, the ON3P family continues to grow and do incredible things. Kip has been constantly streamlining production and factory flow, our artists are churning out masterpieces for our fourth year, and our team is consistently getting shots and killing it harder every year; check out Toy Soldier Productions movie “Set Your Sights” if you haven’t seen it already. We’ve done a lot in two years, but with a new space to expand production and our retail partnerships with select shops (check out Evo in Seattle, WA) we are just getting started.
For now it is a race to get the few remaining pairs of skis finished and then move the shop over to the new space. Then we’ll be getting ready for SIA, making prototypes and finalizing next year’s line. All of this on top of a demo tour, adding new machines to the factory and working around the dozens of other trips and events we want to make it to this year. It never seems like we have enough time, both in the day and the season. Catch you guys later.
As always, feel free to drop a question, comment or whatever at info@on3pskis.com.
